As a deaf photographer and artist, my work aims to demonstrate that being Deaf is not a barrier to creativity. My goal is to reveal the rich depth of creativity and resilience in the Deaf community through photography and sculpture, encouraging others to transcend limitations and embrace the boundless possibilities of the future.
In addition to photography and sculpture, I am also interested in surrealism, narrative, and the essence of things. Through a wide range of sources and techniques, my work explores various meanings and transformations, moving through time while employing reference and contradiction as visual tools. An elevated visual effect is achieved by combining photographic styles with found art and installations.
My focus is on telling stories through photography, capturing movement, light, and shadows while exploring the semiotics and signs of my subjects. An internal dialogue is engaged during this process, which is both intuitive and reflective.
“Resonance” is a wire sculpture that I created in response to Deaf awareness. The piece symbolises the connections between neurons and reflects the brain’s remarkable neuroplasticity, with the blue hearing aid representing Deaf identity and its colours.
